About
Adina is a NYS certified teacher with over 8 years of teaching experience in Brooklyn, NY. Adina also runs a student leadership and mindfulness program locally, and is certified to teach all grade levels, all ability levels, and all subjects from K-12, specializing in math, reading and writing.
Adina is a career changer from fashion business to teaching and teaches school-wide programs at a local Brooklyn middle school, specializing in teaching students of any grade and/or ability level. With 10 years of experience building and expanding a multi-million dollar retail business across the country, Adina is excited to teach kids how to use math for self advocacy. In 2016, Adina decided to serve her community as an Americorp teaching fellow, teaching students with intervention math needs in Philadelphia and earning her Masters in Secondary Special Education at Hunter University. Adina later was invited to adjunct at Hunter, preparing students for their teacher entry certification examination thesis.
Adina’s pedagogy centers on knowing each individual student, and leveraging their interests and strengths to promote engagement and growth across all subject areas. Teaching students how to take pride in their learning by building confidence around verbal and written expression, is a strength of Adina’s. Adina started an inclusive debate club at her school, which placed 3rd in all of NYC in their 1st year competing.
Adina’s students enjoy gamification of learning, being held to high expectations, building growth mindsets, and promoting independence via the gradual release method of instruction, with the support of regular and flexible checks for understanding. 100% of Adina’s students make progress towards, and build ownership and pride over their participation in learning activities and learning goals.
